Moscow condemns sanctions imposed by the US and Great Britain on Serb member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Milorad Dodik and other officials, said spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova

Zakharova pointed out that the West is trying to reform the Balkans in accordance with its own criteria.

“It is obvious that the West, through pursuance of such a malicious and destructive policy, strives towards one thing only, and that is the reshaping of the Balkans to make it fit in [the West’s] molds, while at the same time harming the national interests of the countries in that region, making up some excuse and eliminating all dissidents and those who disagree with the West’s neo-colonial policy,” said Zakharova.

On Monday, April 11, Great Britain announced that it had imposed sanctions on Serb member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Milorad Dodik and President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović for their “attempts to undermine the legitimacy and functionality of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Earlier, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on Dodik and Alternativna Televiziija TV Company for, as this Office said, their corrupt activities and threats to the stability and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
