In a press conference following his match with Laslo Đere, world tennis no. 1 Novak Đoković was asked for his opinion on the Wimbledon decision to ban Russian and Belarus players from participating in the third grand slam tournament of the season.

“I will always condemn war. As a child of war, I know the emotional trauma it leaves behind. In Serbia we know what happened in 1999, the people always suffer. But I cannot support the decision of the Wimbledon, I think it is crazy. It is never good when politics gets involved in sports,” Đoković stated.
