Firm Pledges from 14 Countries to Withdraw Recognition of Self-Proclaimed Kosovo
Serbia has received firm pledges from 14 countries which are prepared to withdraw their decisions to recognize the self-proclaimed Kosovo, reported Večernje Novosti.
Should Priština officially file for candidacy for accession into the European Council and the Partnership for Peace, which is a precursor to the NATO, Serbia will respond with a campaign for withdrawing recognition, reported the Belgrade newspaper.
The newspaper stated that the announcement made by Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Kosovo Albin Kurti following his meeting in Berlin with the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, regarding Priština’s filing for candidacy for accession in the international organizations is a flagrant violation of the Washington Agreement.
As the article said, that opens the door for Serbia to take a step back from the agreement reached during the presidency of the United States President Donald Trump.
Retired diplomat Zoran Milivojević said to Novosti that this is not merely Kurti’s speech, but a synchronized operation with the West, which Scholz is very much involved in.
“This is an attempt to confirm the ‘statehood of Kosovo’ and get it involved in international organizations controlled by the West,” said Milivojević, adding that Serbia has “a free range” in that case.
