Over 250 Notable Personalities and 10,000 Citizens Signed Petition Against Sanctions
So far, over 250 notable public personalities and over 10,000 citizens of Serbia have signed the petition against imposing sanctions on Russia, and the support for the petition is growing, its organizers communicated today, urging the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić to reject the pressure and blackmail from the West and not allow the Government of Serbia to impose sanctions on the Russian Federation.
The newest signatories include academicians Dragoslav Mihailović and Dušica Lečić Toševski, professors Branimir Nestorović and Darko Tanasković, musicians Pavle Aksentijević, Bora Đorđević and many others, communicated the publisher “Catena Mundi”, which launched the petition.
The first 170 signatories of the petition were presented to the public on April 18.
The petition was signed earlier by academicians Vasilije Krestić, Matija Bećković, Slavenko Terzić, professors Miloš Ković, Miloš Kovačević, and many other notable public personalities.
It was emphasized that the support for the petition is increasing by the day, and that its signatories still expect the leading national institutions of the Serbian people, all relevant political organizations, as well as the newly elected Members of the National Assembly of Serbia to take a clear stand against imposing sanctions on Russia.
“We urge the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučič to reject the pressure and the blackmail from the West and not allow the Government of Serbia to impose sanctions on the Russian Federation, nor make any individual decision which could jeopardize the existing political, military, economic, financial and cultural collaboration between the two countries,” said the announcement.
It was said that the permanent alliance between Serbia and Russia is the only guarantee of the preservation of Kosovo and Metohija within Serbia, as well as the Dayton-mandated constitutional position of the Republic of Srpska.
