Today in Banja Luka, 30 years since the formation of the Army of the Republic of Srpska (VRS) and 17 years of existence of the Third Infantry Regiment of the Republic of Srpska will be marked with a memorial service and a central ceremony in the “Kozara” military barracks. President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović and Prime Minister Radovan Višković will attend the central ceremony.

In session in Banja Luka on May 12, 1992, the Assembly of the Serbian People in Bosnia and Herzegovina made a decision to establish the Army of the Republic of Srpska. It existed between May 12, 1992 and January 1, 2006, after which it joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

210,000 fighters have fought in the Army of the Republic of Srpska, and 23,801 of its members gave their lives for the defense of Srpska in the Defense-Patriotic War.
