The Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz said yesterday in Priština that any aspiring member of the European Union must accept the entire regime that is tied to the Union, which includes all agreements, positions on democracy, open society, joint policy towards other countries, as well as the regime of sanctions against Russia.

Regarding the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, Scholz said that the current events on the European soil demonstrate the importance of peace and stability.

“It is important to agree on a comprehensive agreement that will contribute to stability in the region. Dialogue is the path that opens a further European perspective to Kosovo. For that reason, constructive behavior is in the best interest of all citizens of Kosovo, and political agreement is the most important condition for investment, jobs and perspective for young people,” he emphasized.

Scholz stressed that the agreement also must resolve the issue of recognition, seeing as, according to him, it is inconceivable that two countries that do not recognize each other become members of the European Union.
