With a memorial service and a laying of wreaths at the monument to the fallen Republic of Srpska fighters, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the beginning of the operation “Corridor 92” has commenced in Ristića Gaj near Doboj.

The memorial service was held and wreaths were laid at the monument which carries the inscriptions of the names of 445 killed Serbian fighters from the Krnjin area.

The military operation “Corridor 92” took place between June 14 and June 28 on the territory of Posavina, and made it possible for the western parts of Srpska and the Republic of Serbian Krajina to connect with the other parts of Srpska and Serbia.

The operation “Corridor”, which established a connection with Serbia and gave Srpska a compact territory, was carried out by the forces of the 1st Krajina Corps, the East Bosnia Corps and the Police of the Republic of Serbian Krajina, and the commander of the operation was the then-Commander of the 1st Krajina Corps, General Momir Talić.

According to the data of the Republic of Srpska Center for Research of War, War Crimes and Search for Missing Persons, 877 members of the Army of the Republic of Srpska were killed in the operation “Corridor”, as well as 15 members of the Ministry of Interior of Srpska and 17 members of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbian Krajina.

This action, whose direct cause was the death of 12 babies in the Banja Luka maternity hospital due to lack of oxygen, ended the 42-day land and air blockade of about 1.5 million Serbs in the western part of Srpska and the Republic of Srpska Krajina.
