Lavrov: EU and NATO Forming Coalition for War With Russia, Serbia Remains Independent
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov stated that the European Union has turned into an anti-Russian alliance, and that it demands joining the decisions against Moscow.
According to him, over the previous several years the European Union “has strongly evolved in the direction of acquiring an aggressive ideological background, above all Russia-phobic”.
“We keep pointing out how the leaders of the European Union, when they publicly scold the countries which have candidacy status or those who aspire to that status — in the scope of those strict public lectures and moralizing, they are saying: if you are a candidate, you have no other recourse but to back all foreign policy measures of the European Union, without exception, including all of the measures that the European Union is taking against Russia,” said Lavrov.
According to him, that is precisely the way that European officials communicate their demands to Serbia.
“It is a candidate (for membership) in the European Union, but it is categorically determined not to lose, like all the other countries, its independence and not join the decisions that are directly contrary to its relevant interests, in this case — the relations with Russia,” estimated Lavrov.
