The Serbian Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik said that there was data which speaks to the fact that around 11,000 Serbs had been killed in Sarajevo in the previous war, but that nobody has been held responsible for those crimes yet.

Dodik also pointed out that he respected all victims, regardless of which ethnicity they belonged to, but that he could not allow the crimes that were  committed against Serbs to be ignored.

“Nobody has been held responsible for those crimes because they made a court in Sarajevo which is supposed to try Serbs, but 150,000 Serbs were run out of Sarajevo,” said Dodik to the Happy television.

According to him, the international community even proposed establishing a court or a body which would be supposed to determine how many Serbs had died in Sarajevo.
“Around 11,000 Serbs had been killed and we have data to the fact, but we have never verified it because Muslims would not join that commission, and foreigners now shy away from it,” said Dodik.

He pointed out that the international community, around the same time when the Commission for Srebrenica had been assembled, “took over” that commission and they stated that 8,000 Serbs had been killed in Sarajevo, and he emphasized that this was not true.

“Three judgments of the Hague Tribunal offered different figures. It is unbecoming to talk about victims in such a manner,” said Dodik.

He also said that he respected all victims, as well as that he had been to Srebrenica, laid wreaths and spoken to mothers who had lost their children.

“What is the difference between mothers who had lost their sons, except that they wear different scarves?,” said Dodik.

He pointed out that the cases of suffering are painful, especially when the victims are children, regardless of whether they are Muslim or Serbian.

“That pain should be respected. However, if it is being politicized and if it is being said that the victims are only on one side, then I must react, and we cannot let slide that narrative which denies that crimes have been committed against Serbs, as certain people have requested that we do,” said Dodik.

He also reminded that Croatia has been cleansed from Serbs, and that Serbs had suffered the most in the former Yugoslavia.
