Serbian Calls to Respect Int’l Agreements Are Not Warmongering
Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Thursday calls to respect international agreements were not warmongering and that neither was her repeated question to Pristina and the EU of when a Community of Serbian Municipalities would be formed in Kosovo-Metohija under the Brussels Agreement.
Previously, Brnabic tweeted a vehement reaction to a statement by a Pristina analyst who said a Community of Serbian Municipalities would be formed once “Serbia recognised Kosovo” and that Belgrade officials would one day be held accountable for their warmongering statements.
Speaking to reporters in Kragujevac, central Serbia, Brnabic said it was evident that, for some, references to international law represented warmongering.
“Thanks to some media in Serbia that report statements by anyone who has something to say against Serbia and Kosovo-Metohija Serbs, we have heard a new thing we had not had the opportunity to hear before – that calls to respect international agreements – in this case the Brussels Agreement – and to form a Community of Serbian Municipalities or respect fundamental human rights are warmongering rhetoric that officials in Belgrade will be held accountable for,” Brnabic said.
Curiously, some Serbian media report such statements without asking what statements Belgrade officials have made that constitute warmongering, Brnabic noted.
“Was it their constant calls for peace and stability, for tolerance and respect of international law and human rights? What of that exactly is warmongering rhetoric?” Brnabic asked.
