Former diplomat Živadin Jovanović has said that the letter from the Congress of Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks) of North America, in which they asked U.S. officials to ban Republika Srpska President Željka Cvijanović from entering the country, is the expression of Bosniaks’ frustrations because the illusion of a unitary Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) does not stand a chance.

“The letter is the expression of certain frustrations of the Bosniak factor which sees that there can be no improvement from illusions about a unitary BiH and that these illusions do not stand a chance”, Jovanović, the president of the Belgrade Forum for a World of Equals, told Srna.

He added that the Americans also understand that it is in everyone’s interest to have a dialogue and that the general situation in Europe and the world does not favor extremism.

“Bosniaks understand that global trends are not in their favor and come out with extreme demands that a serious policy and a serious state cannot support”, said Jovanović, who is the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the FR Yugoslavia.

He has said that Bosniaks hope that, due to the conflict in Ukraine and certain different positions of Republika Srpska or Serbia, they can get some favor from the West, but that the West is getting closer to adapting to new conditions and realities.

“I think it’s time for political and diplomatic initiatives both for global problems and some local situations, such as the dysfunctionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Jovanović.

He pointed out that the fact that the cause of BiH’s dysfunctionality cannot be hidden lies in the tendencies and demands for its unitarization and revision of the Dayton Agreement, demands for taking away the rights of Republika Srpska as an entity that belong to it according to the Constitution and the Dayton Agreement. /
