“The Albanian side in Kosovo and Metohija is literally preparing to raise hell for Serbs over the following days,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selaković.

At a press conference following the meeting of the leadership of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Selaković confirmed that the representatives of the Serbian List are in Belgrade today, and that they will meet with Vučić.

“As we speak, the Serbian people are being put in a situation that is extremely unfavorable and that is escalating from one minute to the next, and I am convinced that President Vučić himself will speak further on that in his address tomorrow night, after the discussions he is set to have today with the representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as other activities he is scheduled to do in the meantime, and that in his address to the domestic and international public he will touch upon this situation that is looming over us tomorrow, after the measures imposed by Albin Kurti take effect,” said Selaković.

He did not specify exactly what it was that he meant by “preparing to raise hell” for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, nor did the media ask him to elaborate.

He described the measures from Priština as unilateral, that have “never brought anything good”. The Minister had no dilemma as to the behavior of Belgrade:

“I am convinced that we will continue to act the same way as before, in the time that president Vučić has spent in his various positions — ranging from Minister of Defense to Deputy Prime Minister, to Prime Minister, and over the last five years, President of the Republic — that we will make the best and wisest possible moves.”

However, at the same time he added that:

“There are situations where very little still depends on you.”

From the very beginning, Serbia has demonstrated itself to be in favor of dialogue and peaceful means, and above all, and especially in favor of the absence of unilateral actions, the Minister further said.

Still, he left it up to Aleksandar Vučić, as the “utmost authority”, to speak tomorrow about which measures Serbia would take specifically and how complicated the position of Serbia is.

In the meanwhile, the media have received confirmation that the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija will hold an extraordinary press conference today at 2:15 P.M.

During that time, Kurti has released another videotaped message in Serbian.

“What we are starting on August 1, Serbia has started implementing 11 years ago. We will be at your service, proving that each of our actions is merely in compliance with the law and justice, that as such treats each and every last one of us equally. Trust your government.”

Unlike his previous address, where he spoke about vehicle registrations, this time he touched upon personal identification documents.

“Dear fellow citizens, when we talk about the law and justice, and in the same vein, about the sovereignty of a country, we must also talk about the reciprocity in the sense of the use of personal identification documents on the territory of the country,” he said.

“It is not in any way my wish for this move on our part to be interpreted any other way than as a violation of your rights as citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” claimed Kurti, at the same time asking for “trust and the willingness to go through this process of registration and get it over with”.

At the same time, new flyers have appeared in Kosovska Mitrovica: “No surrender, Serbian ID remains”.
