The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić spoke last evening at the General Debate of world leaders within the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. In his speech, President Vučić expressed special gratitude to the UN members which support the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, in particular in the region and territory of Kosovo and Metohija.

He also said that it was encouraging that the number of countries which support the positions of Serbia had grown in the period between the two sessions, which is a trend that must continue.

“Serbia, and myself as its president, are searching very patiently and with a lot of good will for a compromise regarding Kosovo and Metohija, under the auspices of the European Union, and within the dialogue of Belgrade and Priština. That is a difficult process, it has been going on for more than ten years, but we see no alternative. It is better to negotiate for a hundred years than to wage war for a day. It is my belief that we will reach a mutually acceptable solution based in compromise, because this is absolutely the only way for us to achieve our goal, which is to establish long-term peace as a prerequisite of prosperous life for Serbs and Albanians in our region. We have already exhausted all other options, and at least as far as Serbia is concerned, we would not even dream of returning to the path of war, conflict and bloodshed,” said Vučić.
