The Prime Minister of the false state of Kosovo* Albin Kurti said that “it would be good if Patriarch Porfirije, as the leader of the Serbian Orthodox Church, would distance himself from the Kremlin and condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine”.

At the press conference, with the director of the Office of the European Union in Priština Tomáš Szunyog by his side, Kurti answered the question about why Priština banned the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija from attending the enthronement of the Patriarch Porfirije, saying that “the most important thing is that the Patriarch has arrived, and the church should operate outside of politics”.

“We should be focusing on the Patriarch, who has received permission. This is very good, and he is able to go to the Patriarchate. It would be good if he, as the leader of the Serbian Orthodox Church, would distance himself from the Kremlin and contribute to peace and security by condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” said Kurti.

The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petković reacted to Albin Kurti’s statements, saying that “Kurti has no authority to speak of over the Serbian Orthodox Church, nor can he instruct the Patriarch Porfirije”.

“While messages of peace and brotherly love are coming from the mouth and the heart of the Serbian patriarch, Kurti only knows of hatred and war cries. So he should observe and listen with the requisite piety to Porfirije’s wise words,” Petković wrote on his Twitter account.
