Serbia is risking its own visa-free regime with the European Union unless it is able to reduce the flow of migrants from third-world countries who are entering its territory without visas, and then continuing on towards the European Union, stated European diplomatic sources on the eve of the meeting of Ministers of Internal Affairs in Luxembourg.

“It is my expectations that Serbia and others in the region will collaborate and align with the European Union’s visa policy. It is not out of the question that the visa-free regime may be suspended, but above all I hope for a positive collaboration,” the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson said in Luxembourg.

Today, the Ministers of Internal Affairs will discuss measures in response to the significant increase in the flow of migrants who are entering countries in the European Union via the Western Balkans.
