In an extraordinary press conference, the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petković said that the Prime Minister of the provisional institutions in Priština has continued with illegal and violent actions with the goal to occupy the north of Kosovo and Metohija.

He said that between 300 and 350 police officers stormed the north of the province around 8:30 PM, followed by a blockade and occupation of the entirety of Kosovska Mitrovica.

Petković reminded that per the Brussels Agreement, the “Kosovo” police had no right to have a presence in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and that the police of the Directorate North was the only force with that right.

“Everybody knows that perfectly well, and they are all playing dumb and clearly allowing Kurti to conduct these dangerous actions with the goal to bury the Brussels Agreement,” said the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

Petković announced that Belgrade will consider re-deploying up to 1,000 members of security forces to the northern area of Kosovo and Metohija, per the Resolution No. 1244.

He added that it was his hope that the West, which is supposed to reason with Kurti, will understand the meaning of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić’s message that Serbia would not permit a new pogrom and suffering of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.

To the “mentors of Kosovo’s independence”, Petković said that they should not be surprised by Belgrade’s decisions.

“Those in the West should pay close attention, those who are the mentors of Kosovo’s independence, lest they be surprised by Belgrade’s decision, as we are not the ones who are in violation of the Brussels Agreement. We are not the ones who do not want a normalization of relations. Kurti is doing all of that. With that in mind, gentlemen from the West, do not be surprised by Belgrade’s decision,” he said.

Petković added that the President of Serbia will hold important meetings and that he will update the public on everything in due time.
