The situation in Kosovo is teetering on an edge, behind which there is a possibility for an intense confrontation phase, said the Ambassador of Russia to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko.

“The situation is rapidly escalating, the trend is extremely dangerous, I would say that it is teetering on an edge, behind which there may be bloodshed or an intense confrontation phase,” said the diplomat for the television Russia 24.

He pointed out that the authorities in Belgrade, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, are trying to resolve the crisis through peaceful means.

“However, that will be very difficult, given that Priština is brazenly putting the emphasis on rough brute force, conquering Kosovo and deploying a growing number of police officers there,” he pointed out, stressing that this was being done with the support of the United States and the European Union.

In his own words, the current deterioration has the aim of putting pressure on the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić regarding the issue of the independence of Kosovo.

He added that the statements of European politicians are directed solely towards Belgrade and that Priština was preparing provocations in order to blame them on Serbs.
