“I have notified the President of the Republic of Serbia, as the Commander-in-Chief, and the Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia, that shortly before 11 AM this morning at the administrative line near Merdar, the Armed Forces of Serbia, that is, the Commission for the Implementation of the Military Technical Agreement from Kumanovo at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, delivered in written printed form the Decision of the Government of Serbia, that is, the Request to re-deploy up to 1,000 members of the Armed Forces and the police to Kosovo and Metohija,” said the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia Miloš Vučević.

He added that this night, around 1 AM, the Armed Forces of Serbia sent an email to the Office of the KFOR, with attachments including the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the request, and further information for the Office of the KFOR.

“We have formally, legally and technically started the procedure in accordance with the Resolution 1244, in accordance with the Military Technical Agreement from Kumanovo, that we are requesting and using what has been defined by international public legal documents, the international public law, something that nobody can deny to Serbia, and in the context of protecting our state and national interests, and certainly for the protection of our people in the territory of the province of Kosovo and Metohija,” said Vučević.
